Brina Vogelnik biografija

Brina Vogelnik, singer, songwriter, puppetier and graphic designer, graduated with a Degree (2002) and Master degree (2008) at the Accademy of Fine Arts and Design Ljubljana.

She participated in dance and puppet shows Kinetikon KUD, children’s TV  puppet series (Bisergora/Pearlmountain, Pozabljene knjige naših babic/Our Grandmother’s Forgotten Books) on TV Slovenija. She teaches piano at Pionirski Dom, runs music and puppet creative workshops. She taught singing at the Dance Academy Ljubljana and created music for puppet shows in Puppet Theaters: LGL in Ljubljana and LGM in Maribor.

She performed for the first time as a singer with the group Šišenska Bajka at the Druga Godba Festival (1999), which opened the door for her to her first album Grašcakinja (Goga 2002), which she recorded with Vlado Batista’s String.si band and received an award Zlata ptica (Golden bird).

With the band BRINA (Brina Vogelnik, Jelena Ždrale, Luka Ropret, Drago Ivanuša, Nino de Gleria, Blaž Celarec), she released the albums Mlado leto/The Young Year (DruGod 2004), Pasja legenda/The Dog’s Legend (DruGod 2006) and Slečena koža/The Skin Stripped Off (DruGod 2011). Last album To je to!/That’s it! (DruGod 2023) Drago Ivanuša was replaced by Urban Turjak, and Joži Šalej and Metod Banko appeared as guests. Brina’s albums have made a strong mark on the World Music map with remarkable reviews (fRoots, Songlines and World Music Magazine, …)

The Dog’s Legend stayed on the top 10 of the World Music Charts Europe for three months. The song Poljanska Balada was nominated for Song of the Year for the BBC World Service, edited by Charlie Gillet. She also performed live on his show at BBC World Service.

In 2006, as the second representative from Slovenia in history, Brina performed at Womex – World Music Expo, which opened up the music market for her with tours in Spain, North America and Mexico. 

In 2009, she released an album of children’s songs Bisergora/Pearlmountain, accompanied by a concert performance by a puppet BibaMica, which she continues to play today.

In 2014, together with Janez Dovč, she released her original album Pomladne sanje.

In 2018, she recorded an album Grad gori! (Brina Vogelnik, Barja Drnovšek, Matija Solce, Blaž Celarec), (by Klopotec).

In 2021, she participated in the project Žalostinke po Razkriško, by Vlado Žabot and Rudi Pančur. And recorded an album with the band Mala mestna muzika, (by ZKP RTV Slovenija).
